Anglian Water Services Ltd.

Client

Anglian Water Services Ltd is one of the largest water utility companies in the UK

Background

Anglian Water supplies water and waste water services to six million customers in the East of England with a geographic spread from the Humber to the Thames and from Milton Keynes to Cromer.

Key Objectives For Omnicom

To provide a tender/contract management system providing document control for both processes.

  • 40 main users across the AWS region
  • Anglian Water Services needed a comprehensive system that would allow a large number of procurement users to manage thousands
of suppliers and potential suppliers across a multitude of projects, while maintaining consistency of policy, documentation and reporting.

Timescale

The initial contract was placed in September 2005 and Go Live was achieved by April 2006 One of Omnicom’s core strengths is its ability to be adapted to individual organisations’ needs – fast. Implementation from initial brief to ‘go live’ is typically little more than six months.

Operational Solution

The main modules used are Contracts, Suppliers (fed from Achilles UVDB), Strategies, Document creation, Reporting, Contract Variations and Tendering information.

[*nb Achilles operates the UVDB supplier management system on behalf of all the major utility organizations. As part of an industry-wide scheme, supplier company information is searchable by all subscribing utility sector buying organizations.]

The main benefit of using OmniCom is pan-company real-time information on its contractors which, together with uniform application of documentation, ensures consistency across the company.

Another is having the dual advantage of an off-the-shelf and inexpensive product, together with the flexibility to tailor the product to our specific requirements, meaning that we can use that adaptability to fit our evolving business processes.

Omnicom’s flexibility means that new modules can be quickly and easily developed, as additional reqirements are identified and new methods of working emerge. Its ability to adapt, simply and quickly, to ever-changing online business and procurement methods is one of its greatest strengths.

Modules currently being developed in OmniCom are:

  • E tendering
  • E auctions
