Background |
Oil Search is Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) largest oil and gas producer and operates all of PNG’s producing oil and gas fields. The principal activities of Oil Search are the exploration, development and production of oil and gas in PNG. However, the company also has exploration concessions in Yemen, Libya, Iraq and Tunisia. Oil Search is a PNG success story and, with a market capitalisation of over AU$5 billion, Oil Search is set to enjoy sustained future growth across its portfolio of global oil and gas interests. |
Key Objectives For Omnicom |
The Corporate Supply Chain Group at Oil Search manages a large number of contracts from across the world. Oil Search required a complete Contract Management solution to manage contracts in a simple and flexible manner. The solution needed to be user-friendly with a quick start-up period, but with the ability to increase functionality. |

The implementation of Omnicom spanned approximately 12 weeks. This included customisation to accommodate specific work processes and reporting outputs required by Oil Search. |
Operational Solution |
Using Omnicom, the Oil Search team records, manages, monitors and reports upon every facet of each contract, from initial planning right through to ultimate close out. Since implementation, any enhancements that have been required are performed by Omniware’s Global Development Centre, located in Perth, Western Australia. The code changes are then electronically transmitted to site and the Oil Search users take the change request from testing into production. Importantly, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, Omnicom also closely interfaces with Oracle/PeopleSoft, which is the incumbent enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The data that is exchanged on a daily basis includes contract financial data and updates relating to vendor details. |
